Professional custom costumes for ballroom competition and stage shows — each piece imagined, cut, and crystalled by hand for the dancer who will wear it. Never off the rack. Never repeated.
Petrosyan Designs is a New York atelier devoted to one thing: professional dance costumes for ballroom competition and stage shows. Founded by designers Erik Petro and Maga Taryan, the house dresses champions, rising Pro-Am partnerships, and performers who refuse to blend into the ballroom.
Every gown and Latin dress is designed around the dancer — their silhouette, their movement, their music. Because nothing we make is sold off a rack, nothing we make exists twice.
Our pieces are never listed for sale. Each costume begins as a private consultation and ends as a one-of-one work made for a single body in motion.
A selection from the atelier — competition floors, stage lights, and editorials in between.

Every commission follows the same couture ritual — unhurried, collaborative, and entirely about you.
We begin with a complete set of professional measurements — in person at the New York atelier or guided remotely — so the costume moves as a second skin.
Your discipline, your music, your competition calendar, your personality on the floor. We talk silhouettes, color under ballroom light, and what the judges should remember.
We walk through past commissions, sketches, fabrics, and stonework so you can see — and touch — the direction before a single cut is made.
Erik and Maga design and build your one-of-one piece by hand: pattern, construction, and crystal by crystal.
Fittings and refinements based on your feedback — on the body, in motion — until the costume is competition-ready and unmistakably yours.
“The first time I wore my Petrosyan gown on the floor, three judges asked about it before the first heat. It fits like it was poured on — because it basically was.”
“Erik and Maga listened to everything — my music, my choreography, even how I sweat under stage light. The final Latin dress moved better than I did.”
“Worth every fitting. They tweaked the skirt twice after my feedback and had it perfect before Nationals. You don't buy a costume here — you commission one.”
Our costumes are not listed for sale. Each piece begins with a private consultation — tell us about you and your dancing, and we'll reach out to schedule your appointment.
The atelier will contact you within 48 hours to arrange your private consultation.
